We have the possibility to redirect our tracking script through a sub domain of your own website. In this way it looks like the script is your own script and it will be less likely to be blocked by the browser (extensions) and ad blockers as a third party tracking script. This generally improves the number of visitors you can track with Squeezely with 20 to 30 percent.

To achieve this, you can use CNAME relay.

This should always be implemented by someone with good knowledge of DNS settings. If this is implemented in the wrong way, this can have negative consequences for the accessibility of your website.

Creating a subdomain

The first step is creating a subdomain. When you choose your subdomain, it is best to avoid names as ad, tracker or squeezely. The rest is free to choose.

Set your subdomain in Squeezely at Settings > ITP Relay;

Next you will receive the information from Squeezely to use in the DNS settings of your new subdomain. Use these or give these values to the one who will configure the DNS for you.

Click on Validate DNS to check directly if your DNS settings are correctly configured. If everything went well, you will see the following screen.

From that moment forward we will redirect our tracker from your subdomain.

You can check this on the site when going to the Developers tools, by clicking inspect on te page or use F12. On the Network tab, you can search for “sq” and lookup the tracker. Normally you would see squeezely.tech as a domain, this will be replaced by your own subdomain.
