Setting up the connection

Setting up the connection with Dotdigital
  • First, go to your DotDigital environment to create an API user

  • Go to Access > API users

  • Click New user

    • The email address is generated and cannot be changed

    • Give it an optional description

    • Generate a password for this user

    • Status is Enabled

  • In Squeezely go to Apps and select the DotDigital app

  • Here you will connect with your credentials of DotDigital

  • Click Save Channel

Mapping fields

  • With laying the first connection, a custom field; “EMAILHASH” is created in your DotDigital environment.

  • Other custom fields can be connected next with the Field Mapping which becomes available in Squeezely

Once you save your first mappings, Squeezely will do a one-time full import, to get all email addresses from DotDigital. Afterwards

Adding the email hash to all links

For easy recognition of your visitors, you can add the email_hash parameter to all of your links. Once the visitor has landed from the email on your site, Squeezely will know which profile this is and no matter the device your customer is now on, recognize them immediately.

  • To do this, go to email > Email campaigns > Advanced features

  • Here you can add Link tracking.

  • Add field email or email_hash

  • Select value EMAILHASH from the dynamic fields

  • Click Save

All your links will contain the email hash Squeezely synchronizes to DotDigital, so Squeezely can match email addresses to cookies more easily. More on email hashing you can find here; E-mail hashing (EN)
